Minoa Court
Tamworth Homeless Mens Support Group Inc.
The Ross Divett Foundation has generously funded the operation of the Tamworth Homeless Men's Support Group and in particular helped us to provide housing for homeless men and their children at Minoa Court.
The Tamworth Homeless Men’s Support Group has been operating in the region for the last 18 years and has continued to grow from humble beginnings to where we are today. We have 28 units at Minoa Court leased from Community Housing plus other head lease properties which we use to accommodate homeless men, and homeless men with children. During the last financial year we provided 8,171 nights of accommodation to 146 clients, plus we spent over 500 hours in support of outreach clients.
More important than the accommodation provided is the support that we provide to homeless men and those at risk of homelessness. Every homeless person has other problems, which must be addressed as part of the battle to break the homelessness cycle. In order to encourage our clients to address these problems we must have a safe, secure and friendly environment for them, and often all it takes is time to allow them to settle down and think things over. This is where donations are so important to help us to provide the atmosphere in which self esteem and confidence can grow.
