Social Responsibility

The object of The Ross Divett Foundation is to commit to making a difference within the Australian community by assisting a broad range of organisations by prudent distribution of funds for charitable and community purposes.

In the future, when funding permits, The Ross Divett Foundation hopes to create various funds which support the Australian community on a broader spectrum.

When appropriate money is raised, The Ross Divett Foundation is planning to fund a research scholarship at the John Curtin Medical Research Centre in Canberrra. This centre is the only national research centre in Australia. Depending on the level of donation, the Foundation aims to accumulate $100,000 for this purpose. The interest from this sum will then, in future years, fund the scholarship.

Emergency Fund

The Foundation maintains an emergency fund of $5,000 - $10,000. These funds are set aside to respond immediately with a donation in the case of a crisis situation or natural disaster. During 2009 the Foundation donated $7,000 to the Victorian Bushfire appeal and $3,000 to the Queensland Flood appeal.

Annual Formal Grant at Grass Roots Level

The Foundation undertakes an annual and formal grant making process. This process is aimed at eligible community organisations that are invited to apply for funding for a particular purpose at a local level.

In accordance with its constitution, the Ross Divett Foundation supports charitable projects in the Australian community. The Foundation gives preference to:

  • Projects that encourage the development of life skills and promote economic and social independence within the broader community.
  • Projects that provide solutions to the disadvantages experienced by rural communities.
  • Scientific and medical research relating to the increased knowledge and improvement of treatment for those suffering from Mesothelioma and to other areas of medical research.
  • Sponsorship of charitable and community projects at a local level.
